La Fille Mal Gardee

A comic Ballet in two acts, Sir Frederick Ashton began choreographing his version of La Fille Mal Gardee in 1959 where it opened in 1960 and has since become a celebrated classic. 


Young Lise who is rather uncarefully guarded by her her mother, widow Simone, is in love with Colas the young farm boy, but her mother wishes her daughter to marry the dimwitted but extremely rich Alain and has arranged a marriage contract between Lise and Alain. But she is unsuccessful in her attempts to keep Colan and Lise apart.
